June 14: Trip to the market and the Zoo Ave in Grecia, Alajuela. The students were exposed to a variety of tropical fruits at the market and ate some of them. It looks like Mamón Chino, a popular fruit in Costa Rica. In the market they talked to local people about the prices of the fruits as well as the taste of them. After the market, we went to visit Zoo Ave, which mission is to rehabilitate and care for Costa Rica's injured, orphaned and mistreated wildlife. More of a wildlife refuge than a zoo, the park does not purchase animals; the Costa Rican government, rescue organizations and individuals have donated every Zoo Ave resident.
